Hilton Okinawa Sesoko Resort

While in the Kansai area of Japan, on an extended, but failed, mission to try to photograph the legendary fall colors (fall was many weeks delayed this year and I had to be back in USA), I found myself with some free time.

I was looking around the area to see if there were any interesting places I had not been. Okinawa, being in Japan and not needing more immigration stuff at various airports came up a great candidate.

While many properties were shockingly high (it was just at the end of the main season there), I did find the Hilton Okinawa Sesoko, a full on resort, was quite reasonable.

Arrival

I did a little research and there is a bus that goes once a day from the airport to the hotel, taking over an hour. There were other "closer" buses, that were not quite acceptable given the amount of luggage I have, so I had the hotel arrange a car, which is about $120. One does what one must.

About an hour later (traffic was miserable in Naha), I arrived as the sun had set. What can I say? Travel isn't always glam, peeps!

The Room

I got myself a King Deluxe Suite, Ocean View, which is a corner suite with a balcony, and at 750 square feet, was no small room. Open floor plan unless you use the room divider blinds on the bedroom, but I had no one to hide from, so it was all open all the time!

Dining and Drinking - Amahaji

The place I ate the most at was Amahaji, as it had the crazy buffet and the lounge didn't have breakfast. So this is the big list of pics that most people will want to opt in for the first meal of the day anyways.

Continued Dining

There is also the lobby bar, Hanari (it's damn good, happy hour prices are a deal). The Italian place SeMare, which I didn't have time to get to on my trip. The poolside BBQ which appeared closed for the season. Sisuco, the steak place (Oh yeah!).

Executive Lounge

Now, what kinda blew my mind is that this resort, yes, resort, has an executive lounge. That is not normal at all. In fact resorts have special rules allowing them to be different and offer less amenities to elite HHonors members.

Instead, this property offers more. I'm

Hotel Amenities

Ah yes, a resort, so we have resort pools and property. A shop to get things you might need, like a swim suit or more booze. Fireworks every Saturday night. There is a spa, but I didn't go. Also attached is another separate Hilton Vacation Club tower, that is members-only (I am traveling too many different places for this to be a draw for me, but many people love the perks).

Biggest room on the floor Nice touch, thank you Hiroki Glasses in drawers, excellent Decent amount of space, which does get very full Pancakes and ice cream, and yes, I did Healthy? Specialties. Which I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot chopstick Local dishes, I did try one or two Elite member options included Miso! This did miracles for my digestive issues for a long time Um, no clue what this is I passed on this pork stuff, Rob is not a pork fan Tofu, yeah. No Omelet station was my friend Okinawa Musabi, much like Hawaii, I think there is a connection Unami, quite calm for a morning stomach The special perks of a Diamond member Happy hour is a must here, I was alone but I didn't care A more casual area for seafood and pasta The Sisuco menu, not cheap, but so needed The steak! Thin but juicy and flavorful Where the magic happens Tons of room, I never saw this over 50% full During the day still drinks and some snacks Yes, you bet I did again Really good dinner 'appetizers' Very acceptable drinkage, home run here" Sweets. This is a really good offering and much more than I would have expected Outdoors, 62 degrees but nobody was swimming Indoor pool, 80 degrees. Intensely busy (I usually get special permission to photo outside of hours) And a whirlpool, which is a Japanese standard The resort grounds, a real tropical land Lots of butterflies flitting about Bags? Jewelry? Booooze? Yes, the shop Almost a brochure pic Right off my balcony Looking off towards Sisuco from my balcony The rain did dampen just walking about, but I did it anyways so there Where spouses go to get away from the significant other and complain to someone on the phone Where you can be enticed to join the club

Summary

A resort that makes me feel like I am at a resort. Reasonably priced, excellent amenities. I didn't even try to explore the island, I just stayed here. The cab ride is a bit of a sticker shock, along with the distance from the airport, so factor that in. The bus just seemed unreasonable to try to do.

Yes, lounge access. Just get a room with it. I suggest the suite I had. I really enjoyed that room.
