Hilton Suhkumvit, Bangkok

While trying to grab some more distant locations, I ended up popping off to Bangkok again for cheap luxury hotels and gratuitous lounges. While bandying about on the Hilton website, I saw the Hilton Sukhumvit was cheap, and even the suite was a good buy. So, instead of dealing with challenging upgrade situations, I purchased the suite straight out.

Arrival

I flew into Bangkok International and took the Air train towards downtown. I got off at the wrong stop and was in a disaster of uncrossable streets, endless bumper to bumper cars and 98 degrees with my luggage. I tried to get an uber, but they went to the other side of the street then it wasn't going to work, so basically, I just walked into the middle of the road, with my luggage, to a taxi tooling by with its light on as available. He stopped, I loaded, and off we went for a 3 mile (45 minute) ride.

The Room

A very excellent suite that has more space than I need, but not more than I deserve.

Dining and Drinking

There is Scalini, which is Mediterranean dining and where the huge breakfast buffet is. Mondo, the world dining restaurant and bar, and the Pool Bar, which was closed while I was there.

Executive Lounge

The huge (not the biggest I have ever seen, but this is quite substantial) executive lounge has an outside smoking area, several conference rooms, a computer space, and seriously all day service from breakfast to midday snacks to evening drinks and food.

The drink service is quite exceptional.

Hotel Amenities

Sadly, all of them were closed for "Refurbishment", and I was not able to see nor am I able to comment on them.
2nd biggest room, for a very fair price Lovely fresh fruit as a gift from management I took one to make a drink while shooting pictures Welcome to Scalini, a very competent European restaurant And being Euro, many wines are here to imbibe Yes, the Traveling with Rob indulgent buffet shots! Such a flex showing all those $4 eggs Specific asian dishes, which... I actually suggest trying for breakfast Sushi? Ok! Mmmm, you have no idea how much I love bleu cheese Juicy! Many many choices for breakfast noodles Les patisseries. The chocolate croissants? Mmmmhmm! Pork buns, ok that is now a bit wild I can't even identify half of this fruit This is the hotel bar, it's a little unimposing but still decent Mondo, decent dining The highlight of many of my stays, and was here too Large, comfortable seating area So many conference rooms for use too, this is the most I have seen in a lounge Breakfast tastiness in the lounge Asian breakfast even in the lounge Yogurts and veggies, I avoided this like death Mmm, choco cereal. 8 year old internal me is in love Pastries, yum! Stop making fun of me Delightful tasty dinner options Deserts that were excellent What an excellent selection The menu favorites are a good choice A nice place, but where you need to go to smoke, so it smells Daytime snackage?

Summary

A very nice hotel. Rooms are exceptional. The food is great. The lounge demands you acquire access for it.

Tip: Double check the transportation arrangements you make with the concierge. I had some issues with some the services requested vs. what was delivered.
