W Hotel, London

I was in London, yes again, yes, I know you are shocked. So, as part of my weird desire to finish off lists, and because I have had REALLY good experiences at W hotels, I booked the W for a couple nights. Not cheap. Good location though at Chinatown with a couple hidden secret bars, tube access, and street crime all within each reach.

Arrival

I took a cab, because I was someplace else and it's not step free underground service to a station nearby. It's always a mess in a car in this area too, couple blocks from Piccadilly, and Leicester Square, so tourist and theater mega traffic most of the waking hours.

But, once you're here? Yes, things are good.

The Room

I arrived one hour early and cajoled, finagled and generally negotiated for an upgrade -- which in a full house did pay off, at least to a junior suite. Very popular hotel.

Dining

W Dining is mostly in a glass with 3 or more ingredients. Main place for that is The Perception, a bar and nightclub in one. Usually well heeled, always well staffed.

When you want actual food to fill your stomach, there is the W Lounge, which has a good selection of tasty food, and a delicious breakfast menu also.

The Property

Ultra modern, with a gym, and a private theatre (which I didn't get to) and all the W stuff if you know Ws

This entire area is hidden, near the photobooth on the 1st floor Most expensive crisps on the planet W specialty, booze. Love that aspect of drinking acceptance Like everything you can think of here The Whatever/Whenever team here is OUTSTANDING Mmmm, tasty drink The bar, amazing drinks, so many amazing drinks Neon during the day is hard to photograph" The W Lounge seating, quite kitcsh Go for the big menu Natural, block formed sugar Sublime introduction to the day (helps for hangovers too) Full English is not a euphemism Yep they do have a gym too, on the top floor If you see this coming back, well, it's late This helps me after being inebriated for 16 hours to know when it is If you are headed to your room and this is there, you are a lightweight

Summary

The party central, high luxury, makes you feel ok being wrong, type hotel. W hotels are exceptional. This one is Rob Ranked #3 on my list of incredible ones I have visited.
