West Curio Collection, Sydney

As part of my trip through Australia, I was in Sydney for the last few days before flying home and wanted to check out a different hotel. Luckily, I found a really attractive rate at the West Hotel near, well basically everything. This area by Darling Harbor is much more laid back than the party life of George Street.

Arrival

So... I walked from the Sydney Hilton to here, with my bags, making a couple of trips because I always wanted to look like a horrible tourist. Not really, but I couldn't stomach paying for a cab when I needed to work off some weight anyways. It was about a 7 minute walk and I didn't even get strange stares.

The Room

I believe this is a standard king room. Top floor though, which now days is considered an upgrade (ugh right?).

Facilities

It's not a resort or a business hotel; it's a getaway hotel, and the facilities are as such.

Dining

One bar, and one restaurant, Solander. It's a pretty decent place, and right in line with the more mature crowd. Good food, breakfast buffet (because I love those). Hours seem to be a tad selective at times.

Summary

As a getaway style hotel, it feels that it's designed for walking around Darling Harbor with the light fare and shopping around there. Very pleasant, clean and comfortable stay. Curios tend to be a bit "off the mainstream" themselves, and this property really struck me as your base to explore this area of Sydney.
