The Arrival
Now, I was staying at the Hilton in Kyoto already, and I have found this bar was on the top floor, but I didn't quite grasp it was a "rooftop" bar. One night it was closed due to the remnants of a typhoon dumping rain all over southern Japan, so scratch that night. But, strangely, the Sunday night, it was open and that worked well for my job schedule. So I went upstairs, there was no need for a reservation as it was a bit chilly in the fall evening as the sun set. There were large blankets given out which are exceptionally toasty.
The Bar
After walking up the entry rampway, you are suddenly outside with quite a view of the mountains east of Kyoto. Various temples can be seen on the hillsides lit up. It's a good view of important areas to the Japanese, and should impress any local friends. The Drinks
A few "special drinks". Ordering via QR code, and of course you can just request what you want.
Sloping upwards to the outside
Differently, where you have to pick up the drink yourself
The bar area seating. Seems a bit busier of an area
My groove, the dark, loungey seating
A great spot to take in the views
And here is the view, it was very nice
Summary
Pleasant bar, the service where you order and then go get it is a bit different (I am not sure if that's how it is always, but they said it was a newer concept, or perhaps just short on staff?). Nice smooth drinks, great views, kind of overly casual which was nice actually. I didn't find much in more formal bars during my visit, which is not what I expected in Japan at all.The view is super nice, and when just trying to chill, I think this is a really good place.
