The Lounge
When traveling through Hong Kong to Singapore and elsewhere, one of the pleasures of a layover in Hong Kong is the amazing lounges that Cathay maintains for First Class passengers. I first went to The Pier for breakfast, dinner and relaxation.
This is listed among the best lounges in the world, which is hardly specific, but not many are as motivated as me to rank the best. It consistently is in the top 10, and many times at the very top.
It is below the main terminal area, completely removed from the experience of being in the airport by a very non-descript entrance, with a dining area, snacks, reading lounges, massage, showers, private day suites, bar, and work spaces.

The entrance sign leading you to the non-descript staircase

Have this, or don't get in

Reading materials for your longer visit

If you happen to need to work, which sadly I have at times, the business center

The main center hall, where all things connect

The way to the spa like specialties

The hallway to the retreats (they are pretty small, I couldn't get a decent shot of one)

Views of the tarmac

Dining Room
The dining area has a full sit-down service top quality wine and amazing gourmet food.

Entrance to the Dining Room
Menu one of the days, breakfast stuff

My breakfast during an early morning trip
Dinner menu, much more substantial food

This burger is mind blowing

Asian beef, and it was oh so good and tender

The bar in the dining room, because why would you want to walk down to the lounge to get your drink?

Snacks
There is a buffet/snack area that carries sodas, food of many kinds, treats, and tea. It's for people who don't have time to sit down and order a meal. The food is good, just lacks the presentation value of the dining area.

Quick pick lighter fare available, selection changes based on the time of day

Later in the day, it has desserts
❮❯
Showers
Quite outstanding showering facilities, with top-of-the-line bath amenities, so one can shower, shave, whatever needs to be done to feel like a human being again.

Long line of available showers. I've never had to wait

Did you forget something? There is a comb someplace too

The Bamford amenities are very aromatic and smooth

Bar
The bar is great; they have signature cocktails, high end cognac, and all the mixers you could want. It's just sit down and ask for your poison. It's mostly great spirits, but they do have Skyy vodka as their top shelf in that area, and I'm gonna be frank, it does not meet my tastes for a clean cocktail.

Summary
This is near the top of the list of the best lounges in the world, I would have to say #3. I go out of my way to stay in Hong Kong longer to enjoy it. Very clean, serene and relaxing. The elegance is palpable.
